Financial Accountant |
We are seeking a technically strong Financial Accountant to join the Finance team, reporting directly to the Head of Finance. The successful candidate will help maintain compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements, prepare accurate financial statements (including income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements) and ensure the integrity, accuracy and reliability of financial records and transactions across all group companies. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate strong understanding of accounting principles in a group company environment with proven experience in a Financial Accounting role. You should be a fully qualified accountant with the ability to share knowledge with colleagues, effectively communicating at all levels of the business. Effective IT skills, time management and organisational skills are essential alongside excellent attention to detail. |

Responsibilities and Duties • Ensure financial processes and procedures are appropriate to maintain the integrity, reliability and accuracy of financial systems and data, complying to accounting standards • Prepare financial statements for audit for group companies and liaise with auditors • Maintain company share registers and assist with the administration of company share schemes and share trading processes • Control monthly consolidation process for group companies by: ▪ Coordinating monthly and annual intercompany recharge postings ▪ Ensure all intercompany transactions are posted and reconciled across group entities ▪ Maintaining up to date reconciled inter-company borrowing positions to support decision making • Coordinate corporation tax, R&D tax credit and VAT return preparation • Prepare balance sheet accounts and cash flow reports • Represent the finance department in business development activities, including projects and M&A activities • Collaborate with team members to support their development and ensure role coverage • Work with the Management Accountant to ensure accurate reporting and provide cover as needed • Liaise with company teams, customers, suppliers, auditors and other external stakeholders to represent the business effectively |

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Genomics Specialist to join our Lab Team within the R&D department at Elsoms Seeds Ltd. Your role will be to work in our dedicated laboratories managing the internal and external genomics research projects. What will you be doing? We are looking for a Glasshouse Assistant/Technician to join our Breeding Team within the R&D department. Your role will be to take responsibility for glasshouse operations, including plant husbandry, bud pollination, crossing and bagging of plants, and other day-to-day activities contributing to the smooth running and success of Elsoms’ R&D breeding activities. Seasonal work also includes the harvesting, cleaning and packeting of seed. This role provides an opportunity to work with a variety of agricultural and horticultural crops and develop a range of skills. Typical work in this role will include: • Plant husbandry, including pest and disease identification and control, spraying, fertilising and watering to deliver high quality plant and seed.
• Bagging of plants to produce seed for breeding, both in the glasshouse and field.
• Harvesting, cleaning, and processing of seed.
• Checking and maintaining health and cleanliness of plants, glasshouses and polytunnels.
What we are looking for We are looking for someone with a passion for horticulture/agriculture. You must have a positive attitude, a willingness to get your hands dirty, and be a physically fit individual. This job will suit you if you have excellent practical and manual skills where efficiency, precision and attention to detail are essential, and you are comfortable with working in glasshouse and outdoor environments. The role is available to all levels, from entry to experienced, as full training will be provided. However, previous horticultural experience and working with plants is desired. GCSEs are a minimum requirement, and the candidate will ideally have horticultural/agricultural experience. PA1 and PA6 qualifications are preferred, but full training will be given. |

Here’s What You’ll Need You don’t need to be a Head of Operations already, however you will need experience leading as an Operations Manager within a food manufacturing, agricultural manufacturing or wider FMCG environment. Your knowledge around CI best practice will be second to none, which will be shown through a variety of CI improvements you’ve delivered. Experience with systems will be very important as you will be the visionary driving the business forward on a technological front. Along with great commercial awareness, you will hold H&S close to your heart and ideally hold an IOSH or NEBOSH qualification to support.

Head of Seed Production |
We are looking to recruit a Head of Seed Production to drive excellence in our seed production (vegetable and agriculture) and plan for a sustainable future, reporting directly to the Deputy Chairman. The successful candidate will lead the Seed Production team, focusing on agricultural and field crop seeds. Your role will involve creating and delivering multi-year seed production plans that meet sales forecasts, ensuring high quality, volume and certification standards. You will be working closely with our commercial, breeding and operation teams, playing a vital role in meeting commercial demands and supporting our commitment to excellence. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate strong understanding of seed production (especially cereal and oilseed crops) along with commercial awareness and leadership skills. Additionally, broad crop experience and scientific/breeding or agricultural knowledge would be advantageous. This role may require some business travel both within the UK and outside of the UK (some of which may occur outside of standard working hours) so a full driving licence will be essential. |

Responsibilities and Duties • Lead the seed production team, ensuring that all staff are trained, motivated and performing well in their respective roles. Standard operating procedures and other documentation to be in place and well maintained. • Work closely with the sales teams to ensure quality, volume, timing, cost and certification requirements on seed production are understood, and planned for. • Produce and implement a five-year seed production plan for all Elsoms varieties that fulfils the sales forecast ensuring seed quality and purity is industry leading • Work with breeders and the lab team to ensure commercial productions maintain the required purity and genotypic/phenotypic characteristics. • Work with the Operational team to ensure full communication with volumes for processing time scales etc • Manage the departmental budget and provide reports and updates as requested. • Work with UK and overseas growers, contractors and processors who can deliver to our specifications. Negotiate and agree appropriate contracts. Resolve and issues and problems as they arise. • Manage and maintain the seed production team’s facilities and equipment. • Continuously identify improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of the seed production function. • Actively contribute to the departmental strategy and support other managers in the business. • Always ensure the health and safety of staff. |
