Elsoms’ Cycling Event to Celebrate 175th Anniversary
To celebrate Elsoms’ 175th anniversary staff organised a special cycling event and collectively rode an incredible 1,305 miles in a single day. The event raised money for Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and also for The Alzheimer’s Society.
Heading off on 7thAugust from a central point close to Elsoms’ main office, the 24 cyclists rode either a 5 or 25 mile circuit covering between 15 and 100 miles each. Three members of staff who are also keen cyclists managed a full 175 miles each during the day.
Chris Bettinson (Allium Crop Manager), Grant Hawkins (Marketing and PR Manager) and Chris Pratt (Seed Production Manager) made the start to their 175 mile challenge at 6am. They were joined, and encouraged, by other members of staff throughout the day and eventually completed their amazing journey by early evening.
Over £2,000 has been raised so far for the two charities supported by Elsoms, and staff are closing in on the overall fundraising target of £2,500 for the event.
“Our aim was to get staff to challenge themselves and encouraged one another to achieve something together.” said Chris Bettinson. “With the money raised and the great feedback from staff, it’s been a real success”.
Elsoms Chairman, Roger Keeling, who completed 30 miles, said “I think it was a really brilliant event and great to share the experience with people from all around the company, well done to everyone who took part.”
